MDFA U-14 Youth League – Day 8: Round-up

The 8th Day of the league concluded with some of the best matches of the tournament so far. With  the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Under-14 Youth League is in its final stages of Group matches, a series of twist in the tales awaits in the coming days. A total of eight matches went underway at Lions Municipal Sports Complex (Santa Cruz) and Azad Maidan, MSSA.

Here is the Round-up of 10th November 2016:

Lions Municipal Sports Complex

Group D

In the opening game of Group D, FC Mumbaikar ran out as winners after a thumping 7-0 victory over Mangesh Sports Academy at Lions Municipal Sports Complex. Om Waghmare displayed a brilliant performance after netting a fine hat-trick. Chris Braganza scored a brace, whereas, Prateek Sachdev and P. Mallick scored one each.

Phoenix Sports locked horns against Dadar XI in the second game of the Group. A Brace from Atharva Jadhav and goals each from Aviraj Jagdale, and Mercy Mech proved enough for Phoenix Sports as they registered a 4-2 victory.

Adarsh Singh and Renonson D’Souza scored one each for Dadar XI.

Group C

The first unfortunately saw Veniza Vihar failing to turn up which resulted in a 3-0 victory for J.J Academy at Lions Municipal Sports Complex.

In the second game, Desperados registered a narrow 1-0 over KSP Hydro in a close encounter. Geetesh Bhore scored the winning goal for Desperados to ran out as winners.

Azad Maidan, MSSA

Group H

In the opening game of Group H at Azad Maidan, Sagar SC defeated Bombay Gymkhana 1-0 to register all three points. Raj Chavan proved to be the hero for Sagar SC.

The second match between Maurya F.C and Grey Athletic ended in a 0-0 stalemate at Azad Maidan. Both the side had their fair chance to find the winner but couldn’t capitalise it.

Group G

RCF breeze past Youth Soccer Academy 6-0 in the opening game of MDFA U-14 Youth League Group G match to strengthen their position in their Group. Sudhanshu and Bharat Dhami scored twice, whereas, Pranav Mhatre and Aarya Kawle scored one each.

In the second game, a lone goal from Yash Sanke helped ICL register a 1-0 victory over Shastri Nagar at Azad Maidan, MSSA.

About MDFA Under-16 Youth League 2016 – The MDFA Under-14 Youth League 2016 is organised by the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), promoted by the Sporting Lions and the Technical PartnersMumbai City FC has been kicked-off from 2nd November onwards at Lions Municipal Sports Complex and MSSA Azad Maidan with over 40 teams participating in this extravaganza tournament.

The 40 teams have been pooled in 8 groups with the top team from each group will progress to the quarter-finals. After the completion of the Youth League, the top 4 teams from this tournament will get a chance to play at the State-level Championship which is organised by WIFA (Westen India Football Association) as a part of the State Development Program.
