Lawrence strike puts State Bank into final
Mumbai: A clinical finish by striker Lawrence Fernandes paved the way for State Bank of India to register a close 1-0 win and knockout Mumbai Boxers in a veteran men’s semi-final round match for the Late Neville D’Souza Memorial Trophy in the Catholic Gymkhana Annual Rink Football tournament.
In the other semi-final, Golden Boys, Malad proved too good as they blanked M.K. Boys 3-0. Philip D’Souza scored a brace of goals and Shobith Shetty chipped in with one to complete the Malad outfits win.
Meanwhile, in men’s semi-final competition for the Late Darryl Crasto Trophy, Autonomous FC overcame U.K. United by a 3-2 margin via the penalty shootout tie-breaker after the match finished in a goalless draw.
Later, Blunder FC overcame Boca Juniors by a 3-1 margin also via the tie-breaker.
