L & T overcomes Freunds S.A in 3rd division play-offs
Larsen & Toubro (L & T) overcame Freunds S.A 2-1 in their group game of MDFA (Maharashtra District Football Association) 3rd division play-offs clash, which was played out at St. Xaviers Ground, Parel on 20th May.
L & T made a great start, and soon took the lead in the 5th minute by Raj Koli who danced past his marker and calmly placed his shot into the bottom corner. Raj and Kaviraj Koli, both had an brilliant game altogether as their link up play created an havoc in Freunds’ defense line.
Few minutes later, Raj Koli lashed a powerful shot from just outside the box which was brilliantly saved by Freunds’ goalkeeper Manay Damani.
Midway into the first half, L & T’s Bhavesh Bhanji made a beautiful move with Raj Koli to went past his marker and launched a thunderous shot which rattled the right hand post. A minute later, Raj’s powerful shot also rattled the bar.
Freunds S.A’s Janak Thakur who was substituted in, scored an unlikely equalizer in the 40th minute to make it 1-1, but six minutes later in the injury time L & T scored the winner from a fantastic counter attack, which was accurately executed by Kaviraj Koli.
With this win, Larsen & Toubro has moved to the top of their group with four points in two games.
