Kenkre Community Cup
Sunday, 11th September 2016: Day 2 of the Kenkre Community Cup brought another excitement packed weekend for players and their families. As parents of participants and spectators flocked to the St. Andrew’s The PlayGround for Kenkre Community Cup 2016, the tournament provided to be a fine backdrop for the development of grassroots and an overall growth of the footballing community in the city.
Under-10s
Group ‘A’ hosted Scottish Scorchers vs. AT U10 in the opening group match for the day. Goals from Adam Araujo and Arjun Jhaveri raced Scottish Scorchers to a 3-1 win over AT, whose only goal in the match came from Parth Khetwani.

In their second match, Scottish Scorchers came against BVM Bolts. On this occasion, Scottish Scorchers scored four as they ran-out 4-2 winners at full-time; Adam Araujo and Arjun Jhaveri were again on the score-sheet accompanied by Vedant Somwanshi and Mikhail Vakil. Whereas, Aaditya Kakade’s two goals for BVM Bolts didn’t prove fruitful in the end.
After losing their opening game to Scottish Scorchers, AT U10 stumbled to a narrow one-goal loss to Sharks as Divesh’s only goal proved enough to wrap-up an unfulfilling day of football.
In Group ‘B’, Fort United were in for a twist: an opening match which saw them win 4-3 over Scotsmen converted into a 4-3 defeat against Huskies in their second match; Rehan Bhat, Ishaan Singh and Rafael D’Souza’s goals were toppled by Harsh Aghav’s hat-trick and an Arnav Singh strike for Fort United.
In the second match against Huskies, Fort United’s Harsh Aghav bagged another three goals. Only on this occasion, Huskies’ Aaron Cordeiro scored a brace, a Karan Fialho effort and a silly own-goal brought down Fort United’s hopes of making it two wins in two games.
Meanwhile, in Group ‘C’, Flying Scots drew 1-1 vs. Babulnath Tigers; Ethan Kumar scored for Flying Scots whereas Aananjay Daniel settled the scoreline for Babulnath Tigers.
Group ‘D’ saw one of the biggest wins, when Numero Uno smashed Star Troopers 8-2; Nathan Nessiah got four goals, Mahaswin managed to score a brace as Vivaan Sampat and Aditya Dhawan got their names on the score-sheet as well; while Arjun Dhareshwar’s two goals for Star Troopers did not make much of a difference.
