Jyoti FC and Shiv Sagar FC complete an identical 3-0 victory

On 21st May at Cooperage, Jyoti FC and Shiv Sagar FC completed an identical 3-0 victory against their counterparts Sanchita FC and Naaz United, respectively in Colaba Sports League (CSL) 2016 league game.

Jyoti FC vs Sanchita FC

Going into the match, Sanchita FC knew that dropping points at this stage of the campaign will prove to be catastrophe. Having gathered only six points in five games heading into the field, a loss against Jyoti FC will crash their hopes for qualifying in the semis.

However, there were no major upsets on Saturday as a resolute Jyoti FC side registered a cracking 3-0 victory to keep their hopes alive in the competition. Marquee player John Coutinho’s brace and senior player Dharmendra Baria goal from close range proved to be crucial for the men in blue as they moved to the second spot in the table with only one game to go.

It took Arvind Meher’s side only 20 minutes to open the scoring. Roger Sam’s dangerous cross across the goal was thwarted by Sanchita’s goalkeeper Chetan Dhanu, only to fell into Dharmendra Baria’s path who comfortably buried his attempt into the empty net, giving Jyoti FC a solitary lead.

Dharmendra Baria also happens to be Jyoti FC’s Coach Hasmukh Baria’s brother, after all playing his brother did proved to be a wise decision.

Marquee player John Coutinho then made it 2-0 in the 55th minute after a well build-up move with Sahil More and David D’Souza. 12 minutes later, Jyoti FC were awarded a late penalty which also ensured their comprehensive victory. John Coutinho stepped up and scored on his right to score his second of the game and Jyoti FC’s third to take all three points.

For his excellent defending, Sanchita FC’s Mikhail Tandel was given the player of the match award.

Shiv Sagar FC vs Naaz United

Shiv Sagar FC once again showed their determination after a resounding 3-0 victory over struggling side Naaz United. Shiv Sagar will be going into the last game being the table toppers, in hope to hold on their first position.

After a cagey half an hour, Shiv Sagar finally took the lead in the 33rd minute through Milind Meher’s solo effort which comprehensively whistled past Naaz United’s custodian Manish Shetty into the back of the net.

Four minutes later, Lavesh Patil doubled Shiv Sagar’s lead after being left completely unmarked in the opponents box, the number 21 took his time and slotted his attempt past Manish Shetty to register his first goal of the campaign.

Naaz United’s Aditya Controllu had a good game on right wing. His creativity was one of the positives from Krunal Tandel’s side, but Naaz fell short of a genuine striker. Their Captain Rashid Shaikh has been injured since three weeks who has started upfront for Naaz United in all their games, and since then the men in green has found it tough to replace Rashid with a good striker. On a bright side, Rashid will most probably feature in their final and must win game against Hirai Suns FC.

Shiv Sagar scored their third and final goal in the 70th minute through junior player Prashant Pise to wrap up the match in style. Prashant happens to be Shiv Sagar’s manager Narayan Pise’s son, a unique pair indeed.

Siddhu Pawar of Shiv Sagar was named as the player of the match.
