John Coutinho and Roger Sam scores to help Jyoti F.C beat Hiraai Suns

Inspired by John Coutinho’s heroic performance, Jyoti F.C registered a comprehensive 2-0 win against Hiraai Suns on the second day of Colaba Sports League 2016 at Cooperage.

Hiraai Suns who signed Air India’s duo Santosh Koli and their Captain Vijith Shetty as a marquee players were unavailable for yesterday’s match and reportedly the duo will miss Hiraai’s next match too.

The absence of both the experienced players largely affected Hiraai Suns and ironically it was Jyoti FC’s marquee player John Coutinho who stole the show with a brilliant goal and the man of the match award.

Jyoti F.C dominated in the initial stages of the match and soon opened the scoring through John Coutinho’s goal on the 18th minute. John’s powerful drive proved too good for Hiraai Suns Goalkeeper and their Captain Harshad Meher who had no chance to keep John’s shot out.

Eight minutes later Jyoti FC’s attacking midfielder Roger Sam scored a thunderous goal from the edge of the box to increase their lead to two goals. Roger had a tremendous campaign in the first season of CSL where he led his team into the Final where they lost to Brainy World on penalties.

The young and inexperience Hiraai Suns side had their chances but with their star player Karim Shaikh being isolated in front it was quite difficult to catch-up Jyoti FC once they went 2-0 down.

In the second-half, Hiraai Suns backline showed a terrific display of defending as they kept Jyoti FC’s attackers at bay for the majority period of time.

Although there were not as many genuine chances as in the first-half for both, Jyoti F.C and Hiraai Suns.

With this win Jyoti F.C has started their campaign as they wished for. Meanwhile for Hiraai Suns, they need to give their best with the squad at their disposal until their marquee players joins the rest of the squad.
