ISL 3 Semifinals leg 1: Delhi prepare for a stern Blasters test

An inconsistent Delhi Dynamos FC face a stern Blasters test that are on a good run of form at home backed by a buoyant crowd support
Gianluca Zambrotta’s side after starting brightly seemed to have deviated from the goals with just one win in last five games and Dynamos coach will be aware of the threat from Kerala Blasters who have a knack of grinding out late result that can hurt the visitor’s chances.
However Zambrotta will be happy with the performances of his attacking unit. Marcelinho, Gadze, Badji, Kean Lewis seem to work well in tandem with the midfielders and move the ball ahead better than other teams in the league. The Lions have scored 27 goals in 14 games, 11 more than league leaders Mumbai.
Marcelinho has done well at the top scoring nine goals and leading the goal scorers table currently, with likes of Gadze, Badji and Kean Lewis too converting their chances. Marquee player Malouda has been instrumental in providing a calming influence around the players, while also chipping with crucial assists and goals. The Frenchman is currently the highest assist maker in the ISL history, assisting 13 times over the course of two seasons.

The worrying factor is however the defence of the team that has conceded 17 goals in the league, more than any of the other semi-finalists. It will be interesting to see Delhi’s Tactics in stopping Blasters fast paced counter attacks with the likes of CK Vineeth, Belfort and German well known to causing trouble in opposition camps with their pace.
Like Delhi’s unbeaten home record, Blasters too boast of five consecutive home wins going in to the home leg of the second semifinals. Fan-favourite CK Vineeth has been in excellent form, scoring five goals and bagging one assist, while the likes of German and Belfort also looks good in attack.
Mehtab Hossain will be returning from his suspension and will be a welcome boost for Coach Steve Coppell. The experienced Kerala blasters defensive pair of Aaron Hughes and Hengbart has also made sure that the host conceded just thrice at home in the last six games.
Both sides would be keen on keeping their defence tight and look to attack on the counter.
Kick-Off: 7 PM, Sunday, 11 December, Kochi
