Interview with the National Scouts Director of the AIFF

Interview with the National Scouts Director of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and former Mumbai FC player in the I-League: Mr Abhishek Yadav

Abhishek sir, please describe The Kenkre Champions League, the atmosphere and other aspects involved in it?

I think this is fantastic what I saw, the standard of the game and the atmosphere in the arena. You need many more events like the KCL to happen in Mumbai and all over India. The standard has been fantastic and to see the kids enjoying and playing football, hats off to Kenkre, the organisers and the administration who have carried out the event so gracefully, so smoothly and efficiently.

Will there be many more tournaments like KCL throughout the year seeing the response of KCL?

You need such tournaments to happen that give a platform to the kids. Such scale tournaments will only motivate many more kids to come and join and play football for their school teams and many more. So there must be many more tournaments like these.

Are the coaches keeping tabs on them? Will they be promoted to a higher stage?

I am definitely keeping a tab on them, also interacting with the coaches trying to know who are better players and who are the players who can be potential India players in the under age groups. Such tournaments always help the federation, the AIFF and the selectors to scout players for the country.

Do you expect the tournament to go to a higher level next year?

Tremendous am0unt of response this year and the turnout has been wonderful. So I am hoping the number of participation to double up, maybe triple.
