Inter-District Sub-Junior Boys: Mumbai beat Thane 5-0 To Enter Quater-Finals

On Wednesday, 7 December 2016, Mumbai U-14 advanced into the quarter-final stage of Inter District Sub-Junior Boys beating Thane Under-14 in comprehensive fashion 5-0.

A dominating first-half performance, which yielded three goals, shaped and secured the match for Mumbai U-14. It was as-early-as the 8th minute, Arya Gandharva found time and space to give Mumbai U-14 a lead.

In the aftermath of the opening goal, Thane Under-14, eager to level matters, lost on the opportunity to do so; as they lacked the mental awareness and stability to approach the game from there on.

Around 10 minutes later, the lead was doubled, this time Rony Chowdhry’s goal gave Mumbai Under-14 a two-goal cushion. Excited to carry-on the goal-scoring momentum they built, just four minutes later, Vansh Kale put Mumbai under-14 further clear as the match seemed set-and-done inside 25 minutes.

Floyd D’souza’s fourth goal in the 36th minutes, nothing but only strengthened Mumbai Under-14’s supremacy with the first-half coming to an end.

Mumbai Under-14 commenced the second-half on a similar tempo as they finished the first-40 minutes of play. Joel Barnes reacted quickly to put his name to an already glittering scoreline, as Mumbai Under-14 moved five goals clear.

As Ajinkya Tiwari blew the full-time whistle, Mumbai Under-14 moved a step closer to getting their hands on the trophy. A feat Mumbai Under-14 failed to achieve, losing out to Pune Under-14 in the final last year.
