Inspired by Shankar Thakur’s stunning goal, Bank of India overcome Chheda Nagar

On 23rd October 2016, a stunning goal by Shankar Thakur helped Bank of India (BOI) escape 1-0 against a spirited Chheda Nagar side in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Super Division clash at Goans, Churchgate on Sunday evening.

The match was delayed as there were no Referees to officiate the game. Right from the kick-off, Bank of India dominated the proceedings as both Shankar Thakur and Alvito Gomes proved to be serious threats for Chheda Nagar.

The majority of the ball possession was kept by Bank of India who dictated the play right from their defense line, inflicting dangerous pressure towards their counterpart Chheda Nagar.

Bank of India finally managed to open their account just before half an hour mark when Shankar Thakur scored a stunner directly from the left corner which straightaway buried into the back of the net. It was quite a way to give his side a vital lead.

The second-half saw the game tempo at a stagnate pace. Both the outfit had enough number of opportunities to score another goal but somehow both the set of defenders managed to hold their nerves.

In the end, the scoreline remained the same as it was at half-time with Bank of India (BOI) getting all three points.
