Inspire by Anil Pawar’s brilliance, Shark FC sinks Konnark

In the second match of the day, Konnark and Shark FC produced the best match of the Colaba Sports League 2016 so far. Shark FC playing with 10 men scored a late equalizer before winning 4-3 in the penalty shootout at Cooperage.

Valentine scored from close range early in the second half to put Konark’s nose in front. Shark FC’s Ravi Bagdi was unfortunate enough to get a red card in the injury time, but with a minute left Anil Pawar made it 1-1 to send the match into penalties.

Abhishek Ambedkar had missed his penalty for Konnark, with Ajinkya Umasare scoring the following penalty, all the pressure was on Chirag Walmiki who blazed his spot kick over the bar which gave Shark FC a memorable victory.

Navin Negi came close to open the scoring for Konnark in the 18th minute and a minute later Venkatesg Srinivas too had a glorious chance but both of their attempts were comprehensively saved.

Five minutes into the second half, a fantastic cross from Abhishek Ambedkar was headed in by Valentine Pereira into the empty net to give Konnark a much needed breakthrough.

Soon after the goal, Abhishek’s free kick was brilliantly kept out by Pritam Jadhav which was a terrific attempt from 25 yards.

In the first minute of injury time, Shark FC’s Ravi Bagdi was shown marching orders. Konnark with a man up didn’t thought what would hit them a minute later.

Star player Anil Pawar scored a sensational volley deep into the stoppage time to level the score. No one at the Cooperage saw that coming. A man down but it didn’t affected Anil from scoring that wonder goal.

Chirag missed the decisive kick for Konnark, which registered a fantastic win for Shark FC.

Pritam Jadhav was named as the player of the match.
