India Celebrating National Game on World Olympics Day to commemorate Hockey’s achievements.

Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA) celebrate World Olympics day on the 21st and 22nd of June. With an aim to create an awareness, MSSA have organised an inter-school U-16 rink hockey, 7-a-side tournament played at St Andrew’s astro-turf ground in Bandra.

The competition has a total of 16 teams participating in the tournament which consist eight teams of boys and eight teams of girls divided in 4 pools. Fr Jude Rodrigues President of MSSA  said, “We were informed by Hockey India to celebrate World Olympics day and I am glad we could organise the sport for such an auspicious day.”

As the players were focused in the competition, MSSA’s rink hockey secretary Sarah Alphonso expressed, “As the Olympics are coming close and our Indian team finishing second in the Champions Trophy has given a boost to the children, also hockey is our National game we have to promote the sport in a broader aspect and with the help of Hockey India giving us the date to celebrate our motto is to create an awareness in the city.
