Harshad Meher’s heroic sends Hirai Suns FC in the final of CSL 2016

Two fantastic saves from Harshad Meher against Shark FC in the penalty shootout has taken Hirai Suns FC into the final of Colaba Sports League (CSL) 2016, which will be contested between Flash FC and Hirai Suns FC at Cooperage Stadium on Saturday evening.

After a goalless seventy minutes, the match headed into the penalties where Hirai Suns FC edged Shark FC 4-2.

Shark FC could have scored inside just five minutes when Hitesh Karkera’s looping header came inches away for being in the back of the net.

Shark FC’s star player Anil Pawar was immense for throughout the match. His excellent ball to Prakash Khatti in the 11th minute was hit wide by the latter.

Minutes later, Hirai Suns FC’s Karim Shaikh set Shrikant with a deadly through ball, but the former Air India attacker couldn’t reach in time.

The first-half was all about Anil Pawar. His left footed shot in the 29th minute whispered past the far post. Although Hirai Suns FC’s players did a good job to close down Anil, last night.

In the second half, both the teams had their fair number of chances but couldn’t managed to get past either of the goalkeepers.

In the dying minutes, Shark FC’s Mrunal Tandel saw his shot rattled the bar after Anil Pawar brilliantly set up the number 9 with a delicate cross.

Shark FC’s substitue Walter Liu also came close for the men in blue when his powerful header blazed over the bar. With the score tied at 0-0, the match headed towards the penalties.

Heekmat Singh, Karan Bhoir, Sushil Kawde and Akash Jadhav, all converted their penalties for Hirai Suns FC. Whereas, only Mrunal Tandel and Shailesh Jadhav scored for Shark FC.

Anil Pawar and Ajinkya Umasare’s attempt were brilliantly saved by Hirai Suns FC’s goalkeeper Harshad Meher which sent them through in the final.

Harshad Meher also got away with the player of the match for his heroics in the penalties.

Hirai Suns FC will face Flash FC in the final of Colaba Sports League (CSL) 2016, on Saturday at Cooperage Stadium.
