‘Go Green’ Cup – Day 2

With 21 matches played on Day 1, 80 goals scored and a spectacular turnout Day 2 was a level above the day before. With 24 matches being lined up to play it was a thrilling affair. The second day of the ‘Go Green’ Cup proved to be nothing short of an entertaining day as the kids were closely watched by Head coach of the AIFF U17/18 teams Mr Floyd Pinto. Mr Floyd is on a holiday as is keeping a close eye on scouting the talented kids to nurture them into future India players.

The action began yet again on the turf with the Under 8 category where Bosco Strikers played St Stanislaus in the opening match. It was the Bosco Hurricanes who came out on top with a 4-0 win. Zarayus Anklesaria’s brace proved crucial in the win. St Stanislaus then played one of the most thrilling matches of day 2 against Balmohan where they just edged their opponent to a 2-1 win Clayton Falcon was the hero as he netted the brace, the second being a penalty in the last few minutes of the game. Scottish Shooters brushed aside Gurukul Rockers by 3-1.The in form FFA A side recorded the largest goal-margin victory scoring six of the best goals. FFA A beat Kooh Sports 6-0, Rajveer Chauhan’s brace, Dhimaan Shah’s brace were the highlights of that match. Mahaswin Kumar and Owais Sarguroh also found the net. A total of 22 goals were scored in the turf matches played on Day 2.

In the Under 14 category, 16 matches were played on Pitch 1 and 2. Nefarious Bosco beat Red Devils by 4-0 in the very first match on the pitch. Bandra Star recorded the largest goal margin victory by netting 9 goals past Terminators. A goal fest of a match. Meanwhile, Bosco Hurricanes continued their winning run beating both Trailblazers and FFA by 2-0. The same scoreline on both occasions. Thunderbolts edged Soccer FC by 2-1 in one of the most nervy games of the day. The winner was decided in the final moments of the match when the winner was scored. The scoreline of 6-0 was repeated on three occasions. Gladiators, Bosco Antonovs and FFA A all winning by 6 goals. Kooh Sports team conceded 12 in 2 games as they slumped to two heavy defeats on Day 2 of the ‘ Go Green’ Cup. The goals scored on Day 2 crossed the tally on Day 1 i.e., 80 goals. A total of 150 goals had already been scored in the two days of the ‘Go Green’ Cup and the remaining three days promise to be thrilling.
