Sunday, 11th December 2016: St. Andrew’s college in a winning spree since 2011. Defending their title from 6 consecutive years sets yet another record. This year against St. Xavier’s College 2-0 courtesy of goals from Kimberly Pereira and Roshel Coutinho in the Inter-Collegiate Girls Football Tournament 2016-17.

From the winning team, Kimberly Pereira scored a penalty on 21 minutes in the first-half; as Roshel Coutinho’s late second-half goal in the 55th minute extended the lead to two goals.

A solid defensive performance earned St. Andrew’s College the third title; as Nishad Mandalkar celebrated his debut season as a coach with a hat-trick of titles, winning the Inter-Collegiate Girls Football Tournament,  Under-17 Boys Subroto Cup and Under-19 DSO (Girls District Sports Office ) cup earlier this year.

St. Xavier’s managed to put up a commendable fighting spirit to get back into the match, at the start of the second-half. But having left themselves open at the back and conceded a late goal, which brought any hopes of a comeback to bed.

It has been another successful year for the Red & Black Army, having captured three titles. We at Footballcounter wishes everyone a hearty congratulations on their success and thanks to the participating teams on a successful tournament.
