Final Verdict of FC Goa: Points docking revoked, ban on owners lifted.

After much anticipation, the ISL appeal panel has taken reversal from the ISL Regulatory commission’s strict action against FC Goa for the controversial events of the 2015 ISL finals.

In the final verdict, the one-man panel had decided to overrule the 15 point deduction that was originally imposed and also repealed the suspension of teams’ co-owners Srinivas Dempo and Dattaraj Salgaocar, two of the owners. The fine to be paid by the franchise was also reduced from ? 11 crore to ? 6 crore.
Football Sports Development Limited released the entire official statement of the verdict. Firstly, FSDL thanked the independent jury members of ISL Regulatory commission and ISL Appeals Panel for hearing the matter for over the last months.
Regarding the docked points, ISL Appeal panel serving fairness and keeping the interest of football fans above all matters and provide a level field to all teams. In its judgement, it overruled the sanction on 15 points docked allowing the team to start their ISL 2016 campaign on par with other teams.
Regarding ban on FC Goa’s owners, the appeal panel has overruled the respective ban on the owners stating it was the first time and having received the regret letters submitted by the owners and Elano Blumer. The Appeals Panel noted that players, Club officials and all others associated with the League need to display behaviour that is an example for the fans and public.
The Appeal panel has also reduced the financial penalty FC Goa from ? 11crore to ? 6 crore. The amount received will be utilised for investments solely in grassroots development programmes for football in the country.
