Father Agnel Red get debars from Women’s League Final

Father Agnel Red have been disqualified by the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) and they will not contest the Women’s League 2015-2016 final against Bodyline FC, which is scheduled to be played at the Karnatak Sporting Association ground, Cross Maidan on Friday evening.

Aadhar Pratishthan had suffered a 0-4 defeat against Fr. Agnel Red in the semi-final on Wednesday, but soon after the game they lodged a written protest along with the protest fee, stating that their opponents (Fr. Agnel) had registered and fielded players from outside Mumbai District without obtaining the necessary transfer clearances.

MDFA, Hon. General Secretary, U. Banerjee confirmed that Aadhar Pratishthan had lodged a protest, which was upheld and that Fr. Agnel have been debarred for registering players from outside Mumbai.

“Following Aadhar Pratishthan’s protest the MDFA Women’s League and disciplinary committee, unanimously decided that Fr. Agnel had violated the registration rules and had to be penalized by being disqualified,” Banerjee mentioned.

The MDFA Managing Committee will later decide if further action is to be taken against the erring club.

Aadhar Pratishthan, making their debut in this competition, will now take on defending champions Bodyline FC who had defeated Fr. Agnel Blue 2-0 in the second semi-final.

The women’s final will kick-off at 4.00 pm on Friday, April 22 at the Karnatak Sporting Association ground, Cross Maidan.
