ESIC and Spartan share the spoils in a 1-1 draw
17 October, Parel: ESIC and Spartan Academy played out a 1-1 draw in their Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), First Division Group D match held at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on Monday. October 17th,2016.

In a match dominated by the ESIC team, the scoreline hardly tells the story of what could have a 5-1 or a 6-1 win for ESIC if it wasn’t for the heroics from Spartan’s goalkeeper Sachin.
It was their number 16. Egypsio Noronha who put ESIC in front with a sensational goal with the assist coming from Malcolm Blakeyl. With what looked like a walk in the park for ESIC, Spartan goalkeeper Sachin had different plans. Pulling out some 8 to 10 saves in the match the goalkeeper was the key for Spartans snatching a point from ESIC.
The equaliser for Spartan Academy came in the dying moments of the match with an amazing run from Akshay.S who showed good awareness and temperament to slot home the finish. In the end, ESIC were let down by their lack of putting the game to bed when they had the chances. Or the other way round it was Spartan’s No.1 Sachin who put in a man of the match performance being the firm wall that denied ESIC any chance to score with his impressive awareness and the composure with which he came out to collect the ball.
This well and truly is a point gained for the Spartan Academy whereas ESIC will feel that they certainly dropped two points.
