ESIC overcomes Goregaon SC 3-0 in First Division clash

On 7th November 2016, ESIC met Goregaon SC in a crucial First Division ‘Group D’ match of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) at St. Xavier’s Ground, Parel. Goals from Nikhil Karkera, Malcolm Blakely, and Richard Abraham helped ESIC to register a comfortable 3-0 victory over Goregaon SC.

The match started on a bright note with both the teams quickly adapting into the game. Goregaon SC dominated the first twenty minutes, but the boys in yellow and blue changed the match on its heads after the 25th minute.

Nikhil Karkera opened the scoring from the spot to give ESIC a vital lead after Ajay Rane had failed to convert the penalty. Nikhil, calm as anyone on the field, brilliantly buried his effort into the bottom corner.

With few minutes left for the half-time, Malcolm Blakely scored a thunderous free kick from 35 yards to double ESIC lead and went into the break with two goals advantage.

The second half was not as lively as first half. After almost a cagey half, they finally managed to score their third goal of the game when Richard Abraham broke the offside trap to score past Harshad and put the match to bed.
