Delhi, Goa and Odisha wins their opening games in Girls Junior Football Championship
Girls Junior Football Championship has kicked-off in Odisha on 1st July, and with each day passing by, the tournament is getting more exciting. On the first day, Tamil Nadu thumped Delhi 4-2 and Goa overcame West Bengal 3-1 in the opening game of Group B.
Tamil Nadu who were trailing 1-0 responded brilliantly and registered a respectable 4-2 victory. Parul Negi had given Delhi a much needed lead in the 18th minute before Tamil Nadu’s Vijay Kumari levelled the score on the stroke of half-time.
In the second half, Vijay Kumari once again got on the scoresheet after scoring in the 51st minute to put Tamil Nadu in front. Delhi restored the parity ten minutes from time through Anushka Sameul before two late goals from Malavika and Rasiga sealed the match for Tamil Nadu. It proved to be a close contest as Tamil Nadu snatched away an all important win.
In the second match between Goa and West Bengal, Karishma Shirvoikar netted a fine hat-trick to help Goa defeat West Bengal 3-1. Sinita Sarkar scored the lone goal for West Bengal.
Meanwhile in the late fixtures for the day, Odisha steamrolled Uttar Pradesh 10-0 while Mizoram played a 2-2 draw against Pondicherry.
