Century Rayon stroll past Rhema SF

Century Rayon registered a comfortable 2-0 win against Rhema SF in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) First Division match held on Tuesday evening at St Xavier’s ground Parel.

Rayon were not troubled for the entire game and could have won by a larger margin if not their misses. Rhema SF found it difficult to construct their passes in the final third of the Century Rayon half.

As described earlier Century Rayon had an organised approach dominating most of the game. In the first half they created ample of chances to take the lead but could not score due to their lackluster finishing. Rhema SF seemed to run out of gas in the final third as their crosses from the right  were inaccurate and reached the opposition keeper at times. At half time the teams went in deadlocked at 0-0.

In the second half, Century Rayon came out all guns blazing and were looking the most likely to score. They managed to open their account in the 53rd minute when a lovely run down the left materialized into a goal scoring opportunity. The ball was cut back beautiful for number 9 Shopan Linglong who controlled it before putting it in the back of the net. An all important first goal.

Rhema SF continued to march forward in search of an equaliser. But their crosses from the right only found the opposition keeper. Midway through the 2nd half Rhema SF no 10 Kiran Jadhav received a second yellow card. Which lead to confrontations with the official and the opposition player no 14 Roger Sam. Roger Sam was given his marching orders by the referee for using foul words. A straight red which saw both teams reduced to ten men.

Despite the red card, Rayon’s did not lose their momentum and doubled their lead in the 85th minute through number 19 Sagar Bedekar. Series of passes at the edge of the box coupled with some quick movements created the space for Sagar to shoot from the edge of the box bulging the net for the 2nd goal. This put the game to bed giving Century Rayon a well deserved win.

There was mutual respect at the end of the match from both coaches and handshakes with the players as they put to bed the unnecessary chaos created in the middle of the match.
