Byculla United and St Sebastien play out an entertaining draw

Byculla United were denied a win after a late goal from St Sebastien in the Mumbai District Football Association ( MDFA) Super Division match saw the game end 1-1,at St Xavier’s ground, Parel.
The match that came to life in the second half was breathtaking as both teams were rejuvanated and could play some very neat football. Although the game took some time to pick up pace. Both teams fell short of a finish, denying them a lead. Byculla United were able to dictate play down the right as they caught St Sebastien left back higher up the pitch only to reach the final third and run out of ideas. St Sebastien had a passing game of their own as their shots on target came from long range with the ball very tricky for the Byculla keeper. A half that could have gone anyway ended 0-0 with both teams very close to open the scoring.
The second half in most games has promised a lot but failed to deliver. Well this game was completely opposite as both the sides came out with renewed vigor. One of the best halves in the MDFA Super Division as the tempo of the game became high. The passing seemed to have gone a level higher and the possession game was complemented with one touch passing. The deadlock was broken in the 64th minute when a perfectly weighted through ball split the St Sebastien defense. The left back was caught out of position and the left centre-back was left back tracking as Byculla number 12 Zahan Dumasia latched onto that throughball to make a cool and calculated run inside the box giving himself time and space before putting the ball in the back of the net.
St Sebastien never gave up till the dying seconds of the game and were able to equalise with one minute of normal time remaining. Number 10 Dalton Wilson was able to collect the ball from a lovely cross down the right before slotting it past the Byculla keeper. With four minutes added both teams looked for the winner as the game could have gone either ways. But came up short again in the finishing department as the match ended in a draw.
Byculla United would be disappointed after giving their all failed to hold onto a narrow lead. Whereas St Sebastien would be the happier of the two after they managed to grab an equaliser right at the end. A game that could have had more goals ended in a draw but an entertaining one.
