Bombay Scottish triumphs in MSSA U10-Boys Final

After both the teams were tied at 1-1 in the normal time, Bombay Scottish went on to become the M.S.S.A (Mumbai Schools Sports Association) U10-Boys Champions as they got the better of St. Stanislaus 4-3 in the penalties shootout at MSSA Ground, CST.

St. Stanislaus had defeated St. Mary in the semis via a tie-breaker, whereas Bombay Scottish sailed past Campion 3-2 in the other semi finals.

Atharva Bhandare gave St. Stanislaus a vital lead on the 16th minute when the number 7 buried his shot into the back of the net, but a quickfire equalizer from inform Bombay Scottish’s Striker Arhaan Bhat cancelled Atharva’s opening goal for St. Stanislaus.

With two of the most exciting teams in MSSA fighting for the Title, it was sure that these young kids were about to deliver some exquisite football. Both the outfit came close to get their second goal, but a organized defense from both prevented any goals in the normal time.

In the tie-breaker, St. Stanislaus and Bombay Scottish both scored from their opening spot kicks through Calvin D’Souza and Kahaan Menda respectively. The second penalty of St. Stanislaus, taken by Clint Fernandes comprehensively went past the goalkeeper, but it was not accurate enough to find the back of the net.

Bombay Scottish’s Adam Araujo didn’t made any mistake and put the boys in blue in front after a stunning penalty right into the top corner. The next four penalties were scored, leaving it to St. Stanislaus Branch Mathew’s penalty to decide the fate of the Final.

Unfortunately Branch saw his penalty hit the post which gave the U10 Boys Title to Bombay Scottish. It was a hard fought win by Bombay Scottish, which will be forever edged into their minds. As for St. Stanislaus, it was a sensational run right until the Final, where a penalty shootout had to be the difference between both the sides.
