Bodyline F.C retains their Women’s League title

Bodyline FC has retained their MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Women’s League title after edging out Aadhar Prastishtan 2-1 in the final on Friday evening at KSA ground.

Kimberly Fernandes scored two dazzling goals in the first half for Bodyline FC, whereas Devangi Maheshwari scored the lone goal for Aadhar Pratishtan after converting from the spot. Bodyline stood firm and calm in the dying minutes of the match to become Women’s League champion for the second time in a row.

Right from the kick off Bodyline FC played like a true champions. They could have scored on the seventh minute itself when Levanah Samuel came close to open the scoring, but she only managed to blaze her shot over the bar.

Just two minutes after Levanah’s attempt, Bodyline’s midfielder Kimberly Fernandes found the back of the net from way over the half line. Aadhar Pratishtan’s Goalkeeper Ayushi Modi just stood watching as the ball nestle past her.

A minute later, Kimberly came close to score her second goal but her low driven shot was comprehensively saved by Ayushi.

There was no stopping Kimberly, who on the 16th minute doubled Bodyline’s lead with yet another long range screamer, this time on the run from the right flank. Her teammate’s were hardly surprised after Kimberly’s goal, assuming Bodyline’s players are simply use to witness such type of goals from the no. 8 in training.

Aadhar Prastishtan had a tough first half, as they seemed running out of ideas to stop such a strong team who was on their way to clinch their successive league title.

Apart from Kimberly, her teammate Levanah Samuel also had an impressive game. Just before the break, Levanah set up Tricia Collaco across the goal with a fine pass, but Tricia didn’t managed to quite get there who could have put the tie to bed with that goal.

In the second half, Aadhar Prastishtan came up with a fine performance and put a great display to make the final more intense.

Their hard work finally paid off on the 52nd minute. Bodyline’s Defender Kimberly Miranda brought down Muskan Mehra inside the box when the latter was through on goal.

Aadhar Prastishtan’s Devangi Maheshwari, who had earlier injured her nose in the match stepped up and comfortably converted the penalty to cut short the deficit.

Dhurva Vahia did jumped on the right way but couldn’t managed to keep Devangi’s effort out.

Though the deficit was cut short the time was already running out with Aadhar Prastishtan having only five minutes to level the score.

Bodyline’s strong defense comprising of Kimbery Miranda and Juhi Shah held their nerves in the dying minutes to see off their counterparts and emerged as MDFA Women’s League Champions for the second time in a row.

MDFA’s Souter Vaz, U. Banerjee and the Chairman Aditya Thackeray himself presented the glittering trophy to Bodyline FC after their 2-1 triumph.

Kimberly Fernandes was named as the player of the tournament who was presented with a cash prize from chief guest Rahul Patil, MLA of Marathwada.
