Bala Devi hat-trick helps Manipur to enter Finals of National Football Championship

Defending Champions Manipur registered their place into the Finals of the 21st Senior National Football Championship for Women’s category as they thumped Haryana 4-2 in the semi-finals of the Tournament on Wednesday in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

A hat-trick by AIFF Player of the Year 2015 Ngangom Bala Devi, after Bembem Devi put Manipur ahead when she converted from the spot kick, led Manipur to an easy win over opponents Haryana, who tried to mount a late comeback in the game.

Haryana cut short their deficit through Sanju, against the run of play, to make the score-line 4-1. In the 86th minute, Kavita Devi netted another for Haryana to make it 4-2.

But it was too late too little for Haryana, as Manipur held their nerves in the final minutes to make their way into Finals.

In the other semi-finals, Railways thrashed Odisha 4-0 to book a clash against Manipur in the Finals of 21st Women’s Senior National Football Championship on 15th January, 2015 at Jabalpur.

Manpreet Kaur scored a brace for the Railways, whereas Kamala Devi and Ngoubi Devi netted the other goals to see them flat Odisha.
