Abhishek’s hattrick inspires Reserve Bank of India win

Reserve Bank of India registered a comfortable 4-1 victory over Dhobitalao Young Boys in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), First Division playoff game held on Wednesday evening at St Xavier’s ground Parel.

The second game of the day saw Reserve Bank of India clash against Dhobitalao Young Boys and to everyone’s expectations it was Reseve Bank of India who went on the front foot. Creating a host of chances in the opening 15 minutes of the game. They came very close to going in front and that moment came finally in the 17th minute when Rolfred scored a thriller of a goal. From almost ahead of a centre of the pitch curled one right over the keeper. The weight on the shot being perfect and the dip very accurate giving RBI the lead. And it did not take before they doubled their lead when Abhishek trapped a beautiful pass over the top with one touch and netted with the next touch making it 2-0. Dhobitalao Young Boys could manage only a handful of meaningful attacks on goal but still lacked the finishing touch. In the 36th minute Abhishek caught the Dhobitalao Boys defenders napping beating them with pace to score the 3rd goal for RBI putting the game to bed. Dhobitalao Young Boys managed to open their account when the cross in the box was headed awkwardly towards the goal which bounced right in front of it before a tap in from Mohsin Khan. At halftime RBI lead 3-1.

The second one to no one’s surprise saw RBI play the waiting game. They mixed it up with counter attacking football. Keeping a compact shape made sure Dhobitalao Young Boys do not find a foot hold in the game and thwarted their chance of a comeback. It was Abhishek A who scored the 4th goal from Reserve Bank of India in the 74th minute rounding off the scoring.

It puts RBI in pole position to go ahead from the play-off group with a compact team performance from the entire RBI cavalry.
For Dhobitalao Young Boys it looks a topsy-turvy road ahead but the mathematics could still favour them if they put in two impressive performances in the next two games.
