2nd April, 2016 – MDFA Division 3 Round-up

On Saturday afternoon, 2nd April, 2016, Hedgewar Boys featured against Ruffian Football Club (group E) and Sachivalayala Gym played versus Naunehal (group E) in the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Division 3 matches at the St. Xavier’s ground, Parel.
Hedgewar Boys vs. Ruffian Football Club
In the 1:45 p.m. kick-off, Hedgewar Boys comprehensively beat Ruffian Football Club by three goals to zero; scoring goals at timely intervals, and converting a dominant performance into goals. Ruffian Football Club played their best spell of the match in the opening 5-6 minutes of the match, but failed to create let alone convert a genuine goal-scoring possibility. As the away-side’s grip on the proceedings stumbled, Hedgewar Boys carried-on on their game-plan, which fruitfully resulted in an opening goal scored in the 9th minute of the match by no.13 Rohit Kanojiya.
Ruffian Football Club, who were still recovering from the opening strike lost complete control on the on-goings, when a 14th minute strike from Ritesh Kalia put the home-team in complete control of the situation.
The away-team (Ruffian Football Club) held Hedgewar Boys away from their goal for a majority portion of the second-half; but, any dim hopes of a comeback into the game were blighted, when 2 minutes into the second-half, Himanshu Sawant put his team further clear of its opposition, making the possibility of a win an inevitability. With the referee’s full-time whistle, the final result cleared (if) any doubts about the result and a full-bore performance with a clean-sheet for Hedgewar Boys.
Sachivalayala Gym vs. Naunehal
In the other group E game, Sachivalayala Gym clinched a narrow victory over Naunehal by one goal to zero. A first-half strike from Sachivalayala Gym’s Pratap Waghela proved to be enough to gather maximum points at the end.
The match lacked an overall tally of goal-scoring chances created and a dominant team performance from either side. Sachivalayala Gym’s first-real chance of the match, in the 14th minute was converted by a neat finish from Pratap Waghela, putting his team on the positive end; despite future failures in the game.
