MDFA U-14 Youth League Round-up: Day 7

After some exhilarating matches since Day 1, the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Under-14 Youth League is in its final stages of Group matches, the seventh day saw goals galore which made the day more memorable for some of the team. A total of eight matches went underway at Lions Municipal Sports Complex (Santa Cruz) and Azad Maidan, MSSA.

Here is the Round-up of 9th November 2016:

Lions Municipal Sports Complex

Group A

The Group A opening match saw Sellebrity faced Carmelites in a tight contest at Lions Municipal Sports Complex. Sellebrity edged out Carmelites 2-1 to notch up yet another victory. Sushant Gaikwad and Varad Parab scored one each for Sellebrity, whereas, Aditya Solanki got the lone goal for Carmelites.

The closing game of Group A between Goans and Mumbai United proved to be a one side affair as Goans remarkably outclassed their counterpart 9-0 to register a memorable victory.

Suraj Kumar scored four times, Carl Miranda struck twice, whereas, Rayan Shah, Jayesh Behera, and Arya Gandhara scored one each to see off Mumbai United.

Group B

In the opening match of Group B on Wednesday morning, a close encounter between Mumbai FC and Steadfast FC ended in a 4-2 win in favour of Mumbai FC, who registered their third win in a row and has went top of the Group A.

Altamash Valsangar’s brace, Vincent Rayan, and Siddharth Konkar got on the scoresheet for Mumbai FC, whereas, Ishan Chari and Zeeyan Nevrekar got one each for Steadfast FC.

In the second match of Group B, Vision Rescue thumped Indian Football Academy 6-0 at Lions Sports Complex to continue their fine form. Nathan Braganza, Meer Lakhani, and Dhruv Sanghani, the lethal trio of Vision Rescue scored two goals each to complete a perfect victory.

MSSA, Azad Maidan

Group E

Both the matches in Group E was a tight affair where a total of only four goals were scored between the two matches. Sunday Boys defeated SP Academy 2-1 with Neel Kadam and Shubham Chafe scored one each for Sunday Boys, whereas, Aryan Negi scored the lone goal for SP Academy.

In the second match, PIFA registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Madanpura SC to get back on track in the MDFA U-14 Youth League. Kaustubh Paschal scored the winning goal for PIFA.

Group F

In the opening game of Group F, Bharat FC defeated Young Boys 6-0 at Azad Maidan to continue their brilliant form. Mitesh Baria scored a sensational four goals, whereas, Kaustub Mathur, and Sachit Shetty scored one each.

In the second game, Salsette overcame a spirited Kenkre side 1-0 in a neck-to-neck encounter. Tanishq Jadhav scored the decisive goal.

About MDFA Under-16 Youth League 2016 – The MDFA Under-14 Youth League 2016 is organised by the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA), promoted by the Sporting Lions and the Technical PartnersMumbai City FC has been kicked-off from 2nd November onwards at Lions Municipal Sports Complex and MSSA Azad Maidan with over 40 teams participating in this extravaganza tournament.

The 40 teams have been pooled in 8 groups with the top team from each group will progress to the quarter-finals. After the completion of the Youth League, the top 4 teams from this tournament will get a chance to play at the State-level Championship which is organised by WIFA (Westen India Football Association) as a part of the State Development Program.
