Salcette FC overcomes 10-men Millat FC in MDFA Super Division

In a highly intense encounter, Salcette FC overcame Millat FC ‘A’ 2-1 in the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) Super Division game at Mumbai Football Arena, Andheri Sports Complex on Thursday evening.

This was the game which in some way or another reminded everyone about Portugal vs Netherlands’ match of FIFA World Cup 2006. To make it clear this was the match with the most number of bookings in a single match of the World Cup.

Coming back to the topic. A total of eight yellow cards and one red card was shown yesterday in Millat FC vs Salcette game which was undoubtedly very rough game.

Adnan Ishke opened the scoring for Millat FC in the 19th minute who converted from Aniket Shipe’s precise cross from the left flank.

But just before the half-time, Millat FC’s goalkeeper Anas Ishke was sent off and they had a huge task on their head to defend their solitary lead.

Even with 10 men, Millat FC dominated the second-half and looked more sharp and concentrated than their counterpart Salcette.

But with only 15 minutes left, Salcette’s Himanshu Dabak set Amit Kantha on goal, who kept his composure and made it 1-1 for Salcette.

And just when everyone thought both the teams would settle for a draw, Himanshu Dabak’s fantastic corner was headed in the back of the net by Mohit Rau in the 89th minute to win the match for Salcette.

It was a thrilling game which had its ups and down, but it surely lived up to its expectations.
