We need to take our chances: Aaron Symons, Assistant Coach, Dempo S.C

Dempo S.C. have had a difficult season so far with just one win under their belt all season and sit just one position without safety. But assistant coach Aaron Symons was upbeat about his team’s fortunes and believes his side will soon turn it around.

Aaron Symons admitted the participation of Dempo’s players in the Indian Super League has affected his side’s preparations but feels everyone at the club must take responsibility. “Many of our players who took part in the ISL had minimal breaks and have struggled to maintain fitness levels. But at Dempo we have very high standards and hence it can’t be an excuse. Everyone at the club must take responsibility and I am confident we would start winning”.

The Dempo Number two is expecting a tough contest and believes it’s a challenge which his side will relish. “We are expecting a tough physical battle. Mumbai FC are a much better team than what their results suggest and it is going to be a tough challenge for us, but we are up for it”.

Symons believed his side haven’t been able to make good performances count which has led to them languishing in the tenth spot in the league. “We haven’t played too bad. We have been improving over the last month and have managed to create chances in games. I am confident we will start winning games and rise in the table from now onwards”.

Dempo who will be without their start striker Tolgay felt the need for his side to be more clinical in the final third. ”We have been creating plenty of chances but we haven’t been clinical enough in the final third. We can’t afford to do it tomorrow against Mumbai or else we will be in trouble”.

Dempo have drawn five of their six away games and Aaron Symons is confident his side will soon convert them to wins.

Aaron Symons portrayed great belief in his side’s ability and today could be the day when Dempo begin their ascend towards the top half of I-League table. If their record against Mumbai FC is anything to go by, Aaron Symons will be smiling come evening.
