Two second-half goals prove decisive for Chheda Nagar
On 24th November, 2015 a determined Chheda Nagar side registered a comfortable 2-0 win against Somya Vidya Vihar in the 1st Division of Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at St. Xaviers Ground, Parel.
Sooraj Holla’s bullet header on 58th minute and Shavez Surve fine strike on 63rd minute completed an comprehensive win for Chheda Nagar.
Both the outfit somehow held each other in the first half as they failed to convert the chances into goals.
In the second-half, Chheda Nagar came close to scoring on 50th minute when Nitesh Sarmalkar’s lob went just wide.
Minutes later, Shavez Surve nutmegged Somaiya’s defender and went on goal but a last ditch tackle by Sanket Mayekar denied Chheda Nagar.
Although Chheda Nagar finally broke the deadlock when Sooraj Holla’s bullet header on 57th minute proved too good for Somya Vidya Vihar’s goalkeeper.
Somya Vidya Vihar came close to equalize later. Pulkit Upadhyaya left footed drive was brilliantly saved by Chheda Nagar’s goalkeeper.
As Somya Vidya Vihar was desperate to score the equalizer, Chheda Nagar almost scored their second goal on a counter when Nitesh Sarmalkar rolled the ball towards Shavez Surve whose right footed shot was saved by Somya Vidya Vihar’s goalkeeper.
On 72nd minute, Shavez Surve made up for his miss as he went round the goalkeeper to tap his effort into the empty net to seal the match for Chheda Nagar.
