Two second-half goals helps DECA beat Soccer XI

On 17th November, 2015 Two second-half goals led DECA to a 2-1 win over Soccer XI in Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) Super Division at St Xaviers Ground, Parel.

Soccer XI’s Shreyas Patil looping header earlier in the first-half gave them a deserving lead but DECA fought back hard and completed a astonishing comeback in the second-half. Agnelo Picardo’s fantastic curling free kick and Mahesh Poojary’s clean strike gave registered a huge win for DECA.

Soccer XI had a bright start, on 4th minute Slade Stanley tried from distance to break the deadlock but DECA’s goalkeeper comprehensively managed to save the shot.

Moments later, DECA registered their first shot on target when Dwayne Wills shot was kept out by the goalkeeper.

On 7th minute, Soccer XI finally broke the deadlock. Kiran Ghatwal’s precise long ball found Shrey Patil just inside the box where the latter headed it in comfortably to give the men in red a deserving lead.

High Pressing from Soccer XI almost helped them doubling their lead when another dangerous ball from Kiran Ghatwal found Aditya Gaikwad inside the box, whose half volley was saved by DECA’s goalkeeper.

It was the last piece of action from Aditya Gaikwad as he made his way for teammate Aditya Ankush a minute later due to injury.

DECA’s Agnelo Picardo proved to be a standout performer on Tuesday evening as his delightful passes in the final-third kept threatening Soccer XI’s defense.

On the half an hour mark, Mahesh Poojary had DECA’s best opportunity of the first-half to equalize. Mahesh danced his way into the box and tried to bury his shot into the right bottom corner, but his shot was too loose as it went just wide off the post.

In the second-half, DECA finally equalized. On the hour mark, Agnelo Picardo’s scored a stunning free kick which curled its way into the left bottom corner to level the things up for DECA.

Five minutes later, Mahesh Poojary’s clean strike from close range proved to be the difference between the two sides as DECA completed a massive comeback after being 1-0 down at the half-time.
