The 3rd Edition of the Orlem Super Cup Kicks-Off In Stunning Style

Now in its 3rd edition, the Orlem Super Cup started on 13th of November 2015 under the guidance of Father Samuel. The watchful eyes of the spectators which include families and friends of players around the field give the tournament a unique spectacle.

The fundamental of this tournament is to highlight the feeling of togetherness and captivate the essence of community welfare by playing entertaining football, which is widely recognized and which itself shares the same characteristics as the community. Father Samuel while talking to Football Counter talks how this tournament helps kids who are willing to showcase their talent, but there is no greater platform for them. This is what this tournament brings, Father Samuel highlights.

The players who participate in the tournament are football players who either play as part or fulltime players and this tournament possesses a wide reach and this is what benefits the players participating in the tournament.

This is like a mini India for me,” said Father Samuel.

There is a gradual and steady increase in the quality of football played out at The Orlem Super Cup. The ability of Orlem to provide facilities makes them take this tournament as a responsibility towards the society. The teams that come to play in the inter-parish competitions represent different churches in Mumbai.

“You have various communities coming to Parish playing football, it is important to not miss-out on that talent. Everyone is a part of the community,” says Father Samuel. He also talks about the tournament encourages football players who belong to different communities and regions across the city come together to play The Beautiful Game in order to highlight the feeling of brotherhood and passion for the game. “We belong to one cell.”

The players who participate in the Super Cup are well recognized among the crowds which brings a greater feeling of affection and attachment with every foul suffered, every goal scored and every loss or win.
