St. Joseph High School, Vikhroli earn shootout success against Swami Vivekanand

Swami Vivekanand High School lost out to St. Joseph High School ‘Vikhroli’ 5-3 after the match went in to penalties with both teams scoring a goal each in the tightly contested MSSA U-16 Boys 4th Division match held on 29th August.

Swami Vivekanand High School were giving a tough time to St Joseph High School in the entire first half and scored their well deserved goal in the 32nd minute of the game. It was scored by Melroy Pillai and helped his time gain a 1-0 lead.

But 8 minutes later, St Joseph were able to equalize as Avishkar Dalvi made a run from the midfield and caught the keeper, Karthik Kothari in unawareness though Swayamjay Padole tried to clear the ball. It seemed like ball was captured by Karthik but Avishksars touch pushed it for a goal.

The match went into penalty shootouts with both the teams scoring a goal each after the end of regulation time.

The Swami Vivekananda team were without their regular keeper,Rajiv Gaikwad as he had his exams on and in his absence Captain Aniket Patil handled the box during the Penalties instead of Karthik. The Swami Vivekanand team suffered heavily due to this.

St Joseph High School’s, Om Raut, Reegan Raj , Aaron Trinidad , Ethan Fernandes scored in the Penalties. While only Swamjay Padole and Surochis Ghag were able to score for Swami Vivekanand as the St Joseph Keeper Varadh Sidgiddi saved the penalties to prompt St Joseph side to a 5-3 win.
