Shastri Nagar FC hold GKW Rangers in a physical encounter

Shastri Nagar held GKW Rangers for goalless draw in an extremely physical encounter of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) 2nd Division at the St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel on 10th September 2015.

Melroy Pinto from G.K.W Rangers whipped in a cross from a dangerous free kick from the half line in the 10th minute which was dealt with by Shastri Nagar’s Kuldeep Bisht who managed to clear the danger in time.

Minutes later Shastri Nagar’s Nikhil Singh failed to smash his effort on the target from the cross by John Ferira as Rohan from G.K.W Rangers intervened well with a sliding tackle and stop Nikhil Singh in his tracks.

Just before half time Shastri Nagar’s Nirmal was shown a red card when he deliberately fouled Melroy Pinto who was clear on the goal. Nirmal firstly argued with the referee Varela’s decision but he then made his way toward the stand.

Both teams went into half time with nothing between them, but GKW Rangers had a man extra after Mirmal was sent off for Shastri Nagar.

The second half of the game saw physical encounter and arguments with player’s receiving cards that changed the ambiance of the game.

In the 39th minute G.W.K Rangers got a free kick outside the penalty area after a series of shirt pulling incidents which took place and Kuldeep was shown a yellow card for it.

In the 62nd minute G.K.W Ranger’s Rohan was given a yellow card as he pushed a player in an effort to make a clearance when the opponent were making attempt to shoot from a free kick.

Another Yellow card was awarded 5 minutes later when Pratik Tandel from G.W.K Rangers made a tactic which lead to a foul play and Shastri nagar got a free kick.

The game which was interesting turned offensive in the second half due to the pressure building around the players as both teams had to settle for a goalless draw
