Sagar Pawar brace in Egyptian’s win

Mumbai: Egyptian Boys fought well to carve out a close 3-2 win over Kalina Village Boys ‘B’ in an eighthround league match of the 15th Kalina Football League -2015, organised by the Our Lady of Egypt Church Sports Committee, and played at the St. Mary’s High School ground, Kalina.

The hero of Egyptian Boys’ victory was Sagar Pawar who netted two goals. Rohit Jacinto got the other goal to seal Eygptian’s win. For Kalina Village Boys ‘B’ side the goals were scored by Serin Paniker and Lionel Fernandes.

In another match, Air India Colony boosted by the twin strikes each by Sachin Medar and Tyson Pereira blanked Kalina United 2-0. Shamer Swamy struck the fifth goal for the Colony boys.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ under-16 competition, Farm House Sports Club (FHSC) got the better of Indian FC 2-1 to book their place in the semi-final round. Keegan Jacinto and Kelvin Pereira were on target for FHSC, while Shivtej Murthy got the lone goal for the losers.

In another match, Junior Rangers and Air India Colony drew 1-1. Tilak Shetty scored for Rangers and Kishan Singh for the Colony lads.

Both Air India Colony and Junior Rangers along with Kalina Village Boys also advanced to the semi-finals.

Results – Men’s open (round-6): IndoNest 2 (Prakash Sonawane, Sheldon Fernandes) beat Kalina Rangers 0.

Air India Colony 5 (Sachin Medar 2, Tyson Pereira 2, Shamer Swamy) beat Kalina United 0.

Kolovery Welfare Association (KWA) ‘A’ 2 (Aniket Kumar, Glendon D’Silva) beat Kalina Village Boys ‘C’ 0.

Kalina Village Boys ‘A’ 2 (Sheldon Sharma, Dan Dias) beat Kolovery Welfare Association ‘B’ 1 (Nigel Fernandes).

Egyptian Boys 3 (Sagar Pawar 2, Rohit Jacinto) beat Kalina Village Boys ‘B’ 2 (Serin Paniker, Lionel Fernandes).

Boys’ under-16: Farm House Sports Club (FHSC) 2 (Keegan Jacinto, Kelvin Pereira) beat Indian FC 1 (Shivtej Murthy).

Junior Rangers 1 (Tilak Shetty) drew with Air India Colony 1 (Kishan Singh).
