Revitalized NorthEast United ready for tough Atletico de Kolkata test

NorthEast United entertain Champions Atletico de Kolkata in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) game at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Guwahati. The Highlanders are boosted after the win against Chennaiyin FC in their last game and will now look to use that win as a spring board to rise up in the table.

Atletico de Kolkata will be looking to regain top spot after FC Goa found their way to the summit after The Gaurs beat the Kerala Blasters yesterday.

Form Guide & Head to Head Record

Atletico de Kolkata have an upper hand over their eastern counterparts, NorthEast United after the Sourav Ganguly owned outfit did the double over John Abraham’s men last time out which included a 2-0 win in Guwahati.

In terms of the form its slightly opposite as NorthEast United come into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC, while Atletico de Kolkata look to bounce back from their first loss of the season away to FC Pune City.

So the Highlanders will have the best chance so far to put the record straight with Atletico de Kolkata.

Team News

NorthEast United are expected to go with a similar line-up that helped them bag their first win of the season last time out, but with an exception of marquee player Simao Sabrosa, who may have to sit this one out due to injury.

Likely Starting XI (4-4-2) – Rehenesh TP, Reagan Singh, Ralte, Cedric Hengbart, Andre Bikey, Sanju Pradhan, Siam Hanghal, Kamara, Silas, Francis Dadzie, Nicolas Velez

Atletico de Kolkata on the other hand will still miss out on the services of marquee player, Helder Postiga who continues to recover from his injury. Japanese born Indian midfielder Arata Izumi too will miss the game due to an injury. Canadian striker Hume is expected to lead the line for the Champions while Baljit Sahni who returns after serving a two game suspension will go straight into the team.

Likely Starting XI (4-2-3-1) – Amrinder, Mondal, Anto, Josemi, Augustin, Gavilan, Borja, Nadong Bhutia, Sahni, Lara, Hume

The Champions will be looking to get back to winning ways after their loss in Pune and might just have too much for the Highlanders. Atletico will have to deal with the hostile atmosphere in Guwahati, but will just edge NorthEast United in the end.
