Refreshed Khalid Jamil seeking a positive result

Mumbai FC are back in action on Sunday after the International break. Mumbai FC who are unbeaten at home face yet another tough test when they entertain rivals Pune FC at Cooperage later in the evening today.

Coach Khalid Jamil felt the break was good for his side as he felt it freshened up his team after a long spell of continuous football. “It was good to have the break. Everyone is fresh now. It also helped some of our players to recover from knocks and injuries and we are ready now”.

Mumbai FC will be without their top scorer Josimar Da Silva and in form winger Jayesh Rane for this game, but coach Khalid Jamil has great faith in his squad to do the job for him. “Josimar will be a big miss for us as he is our main stiker, but we can cope with that. In the break we tried out our other striking options and most likely it will be Milagres Gonsalves or Cletus Paul who will replace Josimar and I am sure the boys will deliver against Pune FC”.

Humble as always, Khalid Jamil never shies away from backing his players and always credits a positive result to them. With his faith in his reserves to do the job for his he reaffirmed his relation with the players.

The Mumbai FC head coach also had positive news to share regarding veteran midfielder Climax Lawrence who he believes in close to a return. “ Climax played in a friendly game during the break and he may or may not play against Pune FC, but it’s not far since he returns to full fitness”.

Khalid Jamil was quick to acknowledge the quality possessed by today’s opponents. “They are a very good side and there are plenty of players who could hurt you. Their foreign contingent is a real quality one and even their Indian players have impressed a lot this season”.

But despite the form and class of the visitors today, Khalid Jamil believes his boys are up for the challenge and is hoping for a positive result. “We played well when we lost out to them in Pune, they were good too, but this time we are focusing on converting the performance into a positive result and we are confident we can get one tomorrow”.

The crowd always has massive implications when it comes to derby games and Khalid Jamil believed the crowd this season has been fantastic which has been a huge factor his side’s success. “As I have said earlier, I have never seen such crowds in Mumbai. Earlier there used to be supporters for the away side, but now its all for us and that is good for us”.

Khalid Jamil doesn’t give a lot away to the media, but his body language oozed out positivity and confidence. He seemed fresher and there is a likelihood that might be reflected in his side tomorrow.

And if that is the case you will see the more sentimental side of his when you will find down bowing down to the almighty and kissing the Cooperage turf.
