Ravikant Naidu’s late strike sealed the game for Western Railways

On 25th October, 2015 Western Railway snatched a late goal to win 2-1 against Mumbai Customs in the Elite Division of Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at Cooperage Stadium, Churchgate.

Western Railway’s Reuben D’Souza midway into the first-half broke the deadlock but Rinaldo Fernandes strike around the hour mark levelled the match at 1-1. With only seven minutes left, Western Railway’s Ravikant Naidu scored a late winner to take away all three points.

Western Railway left an early mark into the match when Linekar Machado almost volleyed home but his shot just went wide.

Linekar created a havoc in the first thirty minutes where Mumbai Customs had a hard time handling the player. As Linekar kept distracting Mumbai Custom’s defender, Striker Reuben D’Souza was left unmarked, his sublime strike gave Western Railway 1-0 lead on 32nd minutes.

Both the teams played end to end football but couldn’t find the net until 63rd minute when Mumbai Customs Rinaldo Fernandes placed his shot right into the bottom corner to level the match at 1-1.

Mumbai Customs fought hard to grab a winner in the late stages of the game. Rinaldo and Praneel both had a fantastic second-half but it was Western Railway’s Ravikant Naidu who surprisingly found a late winner on 83rd minute to snatch away all three points in their Elite Division clash.
