Late goal propels Mumbai Customs to a point against Union Bank of India

Mumbai Customs needed a late equalizer to snatch a point against Union Bank of India (UBI) as the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) encounter between the two sides held at Cooperage on Sunday afternoon ended in a 2-2 draw. Mumbai Customs were rocked midway through the first half when UBI scored two quick fire goals, but Mumbai Customs managed to find a way back into the contest and fired in a late equaliser to take home a point.

The game was tight right from the time the referee’s whistle and there was little to choose between the two sides until Union Bank’s in-form striker Shravan Shetty put UBI in front with a goal on 30 minutes. Things got better for Union Bank of India just two minutes later when Titus Uttankar doubled UBI’s lead.

The goals stunned Mumbai Customs who lost the control of the game as half time approached, but just when UBI threatened to run riot, Mumbai Customs’ new signing Mhammed Ishaq popped up with a goal in the 43rd minute to get Mumbai Customs back into the game at the break. Mohammed Ishaq’s goal completely changed the scenario of the game going into the second half.

The second half was once again very tight and both teams had chances to score the goals early on after the interval, but the game remained on the knife edge. Customs pushed hard for an equalizer as the game drew to a close. Customs’ pressure eventually gave in the 85th minute, when Hemkat Singh  netted Mumbai Customs’ equalising goal.

Mumbai Customs’ new signing Mohammed Ishaq stepped up to the plate when needed to get Customs back into the contest before Singh got them an unlikely point against a seasoned Union Bank of India side whose topsy-turvy season continued.
