Mumbai gears up for Season 2 of U Dream Football Program

U Sports – TSG 1899 Hoffenheim partnership kick starts U Dream Football Clinic cum scouting program in the city.

Monday , November 16^th , 2015, Mumbai: With last year’s U Dream Football program kicking off successfully, the U Sports and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim alliance continues to seek the finest young footballers in the country. U Sports will begin their scouting program – U Dream Football in Mumbai from November 17^th to December 8^th, 2015 in pursuit of India’s best young footballers. The Mumbai leg of U Dream Football Clinics will also see Lutz Pfannenstiel(International Relations & Scouting) and Thomas Richter (Head of Professional Team Administration) from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim visiting the clinics, highlighting the involvement of the Bundesliga side.

The schools where the clinics will be hosted in Mumbai are: Aditya Birla World Academy;

Cambridge International School; Ryan International School and St. Lawrence High School in Kandivli; Campion School; Fr. Agnel Multipurpose School, Vashi; Ryan International School, Sanpada; Saint Francis D’Assisi High School, Borivali; and St. Stanislaus High School, Bandra. Compared to last year’s edition, this year will see more kids chosen for the 6-year training program. In the first edition of the program, 15 boys (aged under 15 years) were selected for the 6-year residential program in Zuzenhausen, designed to offer Football as a career option. Out of the 15 boys selected in the first year, 3 hailed from Mumbai: Kumar Rathod, Ishant Rana and Raul Lewis.

Sharing insights on the second edition of the U Dream program, Supratik Sen, CEO U Sports said, “With the second edition commencing, our goal this season is to send an even more talented crop of young footballers to Germany for the U Dream Football Programme. With 3 selected from Mumbai last season, we’re confident of finding more talent in the city.’

This year, U Dream Football in an attempt to broaden the scope and nature of the talent hunt, over the next 2 months, U Sports in alliance with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will conduct clinics in over 100 school across 12 cities in India, led by coaches from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.The main purpose of the clinics will be to build a stronger base of candidates for the second edition of the U Dream Football program.
