Mumbai FC U18 bounce back with a 2-0 victory against Kenkre FC U18

On 1st November, 2015 Mumbai FC U-18 produced a strong determined approach as they defeats Kenkre FC U18 2-0 in HERO U-18 I-League at Cooperage Stadium at Churchgate.

A stunning free kick from Kartik Yenurkar earlier in the first-half and an absymal own goal from Swagat Shinde in second-half were enough for Mumbai FC to register their first win of HERO U-18 I-League 2015/16.

Both, Mumbai FC U-18 and Kenkre FC U-18 had a disastrous start this season as they lost 12-0 and 7-0 to DSK Shivajians FC U-18 and Pune FC U-18 respectively.

Mumbai FC U-18 had a bright start as it took only 10 minutes to register their first shot on the target. Couple of minutes later Mumbai FC almost scored when Rakesh Karmaran’s looping header from Vineel Poojary’s cross just went over the bar.

Moments later, Kenkre FC came close as Rahul Nain’s low cross was met by Alister Anthony whose right footed strike whispered past the post.

On 22nd minute, Mumbai FC’s Dawhoi Dhar set Ashish Kumar Sharma through on goal, the latter danced his way through Kenkre FC’s defense comprehensively but his low cross from inside the box was intercepted.

A good move which could have been excecuted accurately.

Minute later, a huge error in Kenkre’s defense would have cost them a goal. Saleem Shaikh right footed shot was well saved but a poor clearance inside the box saw the ball fell in Saleem’s way again whose shot was finally cleared from the Kenkre’s box.

Midway into the first-half, Mumbai FC’s Asifullah Khan became the first player of the match to get booked as his mistimed challenge on Rahul Nain saw Referee giving him a yellow card.

Kenkre FC U-18 kept ball possession for majority of the first-half but failing to convert their chances into goal earlier, unfortunately struck them hard.

With seven minutes left in the first-half, Kartik Yenurkar’s fantastic free kick gave Mumbai FC U-18 a huge lead as his curling shot rattled in off the post and managed to went in.

Saleem Shaikh almost scored the second for Mumbai FC U-18 as his looping header from Rahul Baishnab Jaydebdas cross struck the bar.

In the additional minute of first-half, Kenkre FC’s Rahul Nain almost managed to pull off a equalizer when his right footed drive was brilliantly cleared off the line by Martin Assisi.

Kenkre FC’s poor finishing left them trailing as Mumbai FC went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Earlier in the second-half, Mumbai FC U-18 increased their lead by two goals as Kenkre FC’s Swagat Shinde managed to put the ball into his own net.

Eventhough Mumbai FC U-18 were leading 2-0, surprisingly they didn’t back and instead kept on attacking till the final whistle.

Kenkre FC U-18 had a disappointing second-half as their poor finishing in front of the goal kept haunting them.

In the dying minutes, Kenkre FC’s defender Aditya Gole denied Mumbai FC a third goal as he somehow cleared Nitesh’s Tandel right footed strike off the line.

Mumbai FC U-18 ran out as winners following their 12-0 loss earlier this season whereas Kenkre FC U-18 are yet to score this season, losing both their games against Pune FC U-18 and Mumbai FC U-18.
