Mumbai FC canter to an easy win against PIFA Colaba

Mumbai FC continued their goal scoring exploits as they fired four past PIFA Colaba in a 4-0 win in an Elite Division game of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) at Cooperage on Friday, 6th November 2015.
Mumbai FC came into the game on the back of two morale boosting wins while PIFA were without a point from their first three games.
Mumbai FC just needed six minutes to open the scoring against a PIFA Colaba side clearly lacking confidence as new signing Malem Metei fired in cracking free kick which went into the net off the lower side off the crossbar.
Mumbai FC were unable to make the most of their quick start as the vigour in Mumbai’s attack fizzled out. PIFA Colaba though couldn’t get out of their own half allowing Mumbai FC to enjoy a lot of possession in the PIFA half.
Eventually in the 21st minute, Mumbai FC doubled their advantage when the PIFA Colaba came off his line to clear a fine cross from Steven Dias, but the PIFA custodian failed to clear the danger leaving Malem Metei a tap in in an empty goal.
Mumbai FC lifted the foot off the peddle a bit after going 2-0 up, but PIFA Colaba could do little to turn things around in the game.
Mumbai FC dealt PIFA Colaba a severe blow when they added a third goal in the 45th minute, when Eric Brown struck a sweet left footed free kick which sailed into the net.
Little changed in the second half as Mumbai FC piled in more misery on PIFA Colaba when Sandesh Gadkari made it 4-0 in Mumbai FC’s favour in the 50th minute.
It was all Mumbai FC in the second half as possession came at a premium for Abdul Siddhique’s side. Mumbai FC had numerous chances to add to their tally as substitute Karan Sawhney almost grabbed a quick fire hat-trick. But the young Mumbai FC striker didn’t have his day in front of the goal as his efforts failed to trouble the goalkeeper.
PIFA goalkeeper had an inspired second half as he made top saves from Steven Dias and especially Rohit Mirza when he kept out a header from point blank range out in the 88th minute.
Mumbai FC cruised to yet another win taking their tally to nine points in five games as they stepped up their chase at the top of the table.
PIFA Colaba fell further in trouble after a fourth straight loss saw them rooted to 12th in the Elite Division rankings.
