Mogaveera S.C. and Satya Vijaya S.C. fire blanks; Jayesh Naik inspires Udaya S.C.’s win over Janata Bros. S.C.

In the 20th edition of the late Ramanath Payyade Memorial Football League Tournament 2015-16 at Karnatak Sports Association on the 22nd of November ’15, Mogaveera Sports Club held with Satya Vijaya Sports Club for a goalless draw while, Udaya Sports Club ran-out comfortable 2-0 winners against Kanara Bros. Sports Club after a goalless first-half of football – two moments of individual brilliance on 37 & 46 minutes from Udaya S.C.’s no. 19 Jayesh Nayak, who scored a brace to clinch the victory in his side’s favour.

The first game on the day between Mogaveera Sports Club and Satya Vijaya Sports Club displayed both teams’ incapable of creating ample goal-scoring chances, and failing to convert any half or quarter chance which went either side’s way. A lack of control over proceedings was a key-highlight. Neither team could distribute the ball enough or string passes together to break-down the opposition’s defence.

The teams certainly looked for chances to pounce upon, but those chances hardly come at either side’s disposal. The goal just wouldn’t come. As the game reached its closing stages, Satya Vijaya S.C. tried pressurizing the Mogaveera team, but couldn’t take full advantage due to the tired legs in their camp. Both team had half-a-chance before the referee blew the full-time whistle, but their failure at taking a half chance and converting it into a genuine goalscoring opportunity – ideally, the game in a nutshell – meant, both sides shared points, deservedly.

The second game between Kanara Bros. Sports Club versus Udaya Sports Club was going on the same path as the previous game, but two goals in 10 minutes (37th minute & 46th minute) from no. 19 Jayesh Naik changed its course, and gave Udaya S.C. all 3 points, rightly, if not convincingly.

Jayesh Nail scored from two brilliant solo-goals, first, into the left-top corner, and second, wide right from the left of the 18-yard line – leaving the Kanara Bros. S.C. goalkeeper Shahil Kohli actioned red faced.

The game was a poor display of decision making in midfield and attack whilst both sides played cautiously, and at a substandard passing quality both sides couldn’t stick 3 passes together. A large chunk of chances of the chances came or couldn’t come due to hopelessly hit long-balls upfront.

The game shifted into Udaya S.C.’s favour from moments of individual quality and not team effort or from a dead-ball. Both games, in general didn’t have much to think upon as the deficiencies in all 4 sides were clear.
