Malvani FC overcome Shastri Nagar to enter Semi Finals

Malvani S.C beat Shastri Nagar 2-0 in the 3rd division match of M.D.F.A. (Mumbai District Football Association) at St Xavier’s ground, Parel on 29 May 2015.

Shastri Nagar who were dominating the game soon lost control over the game and had to submit themselves without any goal.

Even though Shastri Nagar were dominating it was Malvani S.C who got majority of chances to score.
The first goal of the match was scored by Malvani S.C’s Carlton M in the 3rd minute from a free kick.

Carlton M. controlled the ball and smashed it on the left corner to give Malwani S.C a lead against the run of play.
Malvani S.C’s Gypsy Singh’s efforts were well saved by goalkeeper in the 15th minute when he tried shooting from a corner. He received a cross from Moheeb Hussain from the left wing. The goalkeeper saved a certain goal to keep Shastri Nagar in the hunt.

Shashtri nagar made an attempt to score from a free kick but they failed to organize themselves.
In the 23rd minute Shashtri S.C Nirmal Bakre cleared the danger by shooting the ball outside the field when Malvani S.C’s Haxi D’Souza’s shot rebounded after touching the left goalpost.

The first half ended with disappointment for Shastri nagar with Malvani S.C leading by 1-0.
During the break Shastri nagar made plans to execute the whole game and it seemed that they would turn the game towards their side.

5 minutes later Shastri Nagar’s John F. and Somesh Nair combined well and made attempt to score. John F. ran along with the ball and shot it at Somesh Nair. Both played a nice one two but they failed to turn the chance into a goal.

It was a very good play by both the players which showed their enthusiasm.

The crowd was supporting and encouraging Shahtri Nagar for their play which helped them boost their confidence.

In the 37th minute Shashtri Nagar’s Monty tried to shot towards the goal from 6 yards but he failed to score adding to their agony.

The Shastri Nagar players lost their discipline as time was running out for them, but the referee did well to control the game.

In the 44th minute Shashtri Nagar’s Neerav blocked Haxi D’Souza’s shot. Neerav’s responsiveness was useful in preventing another goal for Malvani S.C.

4 minutes later Malvani sealed their progress to the semi-finals when Ritesh Sathe scored for them after receiving a pass from Avlon Dias

The game ended with disappointment for Shastri Nagar as they tried their best to play but at each stage their efforts did not materialize into goals which led to their exit from the race for the 3rd division crown
