Mumbai: Maharashtra girls’ put up a strong performance before going down fighting 4-5 to Manipur in well-contested Group-I cluster match of the AIFF Junior National Football Championship for Girls’ Under-18, and played at the Raia Panchayat Ground, Raia, Goa.

Manipur’s captain and ace striker N. Ratanbala Devi led the charge with a fine hat-trick, while Kashmina contributed two goals to secure the win.

The Maharashtra girl’s putting up a creditable fight managed to score their goals through the efforts of Bhagyashree Dalvi who struck a brace and Pooja Dhamal and Jyoti Mehra chipping in with one goal each.
The state girls’ next match is against Bihar on Wednesday.

Results: Manipur 5 (N. Ratanbala Devi 3, Kashmina 2) beat Maharashtra 4 (Bhagyashree Dalvi 2, Pooja Dhamal, Jyoti Mehra).
