Magnificent Malvani SC thrash JSW Steel to continue surge

Malvani SC built onto their brilliant start to the campaign with yet another big win after they thrashed JSW Steel 4-0 in the 2nd Division of the Mumbai District Football Association (MDFA) league at St. Xavier’s Ground in Parel on Friday, 11th September 2015.

Malvani top group D of the second division after maintaining their 100% start to the season.

JSW were believed to pose a threat to Robert Chettiar’s men’s perfect start and did manage to stifle the in-form Malvani side in the initial parts of the game. But just when we thought that frustration would get in among the Malvani players, Maxi D’Souza breached the stern JSW defense and struck the opening goal for Group D leaders in the 15th minute of the game.

The goal came at a good time for Malvani SC as they started to impose themselves more on the game as the early game steel shown by JSW vanished after falling behind. Malvani’s attacks increased as the half drew to its close and the movement of of the Malvani SC forwards created problems for JSW.

Malvani dealt a huge blow to JSW when they scored just a minute from half time through Avlon Dias and went into the break in a very strong position. JSW on the other hand had a mountain to climb in the second half after their early resilience was broken by the rampant Malvani SC side.

Malvani began the second half on the front foot and pegged back JSW deep into their own half. In the 38th minute, JSW were very nearly made to pay as their goalkeeper Shubham Tajov failed to get a proper connection on his goal kick as it fell to Manpreet Gypsy twenty five yards. But fortunately for Tajov, Gypsy’s shot went just over the crossbar.

Malvani continued to ask questions at the JSW backline and should have been 3-0 up in the 49th minute when Maxi D’Souza fired his header from substitute Ritesh Sathe’s cross straight at the goalkeeper. But eight minutes later, Malvani sealed the game as David D’Souza bundled in from close range after Ritesh Sathe’s shot which rebounded of the post fell kindly to him just six yards from the goal.

Malvani capped off yet another successful with a truly delightful goal, coming from the boots of Carlton Mascerenhas, who made a great run into the box, going past five players to keep his composure brilliantly in front of goal and score the fourth and final goal of the afternoon.

Carlton Mascerenhas’ goal had the shade of a certain little Argentine genius in it as it was a testimonial to the level of football that Malvani SC are playing at the moment.

The referee blew the whistle for full time as the Malvani SC juggernaut continued to roll on efficiently. Robert Chettiar’s men are doing everything right at the moment and will take some stopping this season.
