Kerala Blasters’ Rahul Bheke is out to prove his worth

Rahul Bheke came up against his hometown club Mumbai City FC in a Hero Indian Super League (ISL) game at Kochi yesterday. Rahul Bheke played a crucial part in the Kerala Blasters defence that kept Mumbai City FC at bay as the game ended goalless.
Peter Taylor made a late mive for the East Bengal right back who sizzled in the recently concluded Calcutta Football League.
But to many people’s surprise Rahul Bheke went straight into Peter Taylor’s starting eleven when the Blasters met NorthEast United in their opening game.
Speaking to the ISL Media team after the 0-0 draw against Mumbai City FC, Rahul Bheke remained grounded despite his sudden rise in the Kerala Blasters pecking order. “When I got a chance to play in the ISL, I knew I will have to prove myself at every stage. I have done well so far, but I need to work more to conpletely prove myself,” said the former Mumbai FC fullback.
But Bheke wasn’t too happy with the draw against Mumbai City FC and claimed it was two points dropped instead of one gained. “We are not too pleased with the draw, we had a few chances to score and shoul have won the game. We were the home team and in ISL its extremely important to win the home games,” the Blasters right back said.
Bheke who has made a name for himself for his long throw-ins said that he plans to use it sparingly and would prefer to have a mix of short and long throw-ins. “The long throw-ins were quite effective in our first game, but we have decided not to overuse it and keep a mix of short and long throw-ins. Even in practise we have just practised it once or twice, but its a good skill to have,” said Bheke.
Rahul Bheke is having a great season so far and the Kerala Blasters man will be looking build on his season’s work and get on Stephan Constantine’s radar.
