Kenkre Champions League: Dynamites clinch the U-10 title after a dramatic final victory against Jaguars
Dynamites bagged the U-10 title in the Kenkre Champions League after a dramatic 3-2 win over Jaguars in the final played at Don Bosco Matunga School ground on Sunday 22nd February, 2015. The young guns showed real spirit in scorching heat as the see-saw battle finally swung the Dynamites way.
The game got off to a flying start when the Jaguars took an early lead in the very first minute when Vedant Pingle tapped in a cross from a free kick.
But that did not seem to deter the Dynamites who hit back in the 4th minute through Craig who finished off a brilliant counter attacking move. Craig’s shot from close range went in off the post.
The goal gave Dynamites confidence and they started playing well and soon took the lead in the 7th minute through Dhanraj who was impressive throughout the game. Dhanraj’s neat shot went in off the post to hand Dynamites a 2-1 lead as the game got to half time.
The little guns of Jaguars whose lead turned into a deficit, showed great heart and came into out in the second half with great spirit, which was rewarded in the 15th minute when Jaguar’s Joshua Mendes leveled the score at 2-2 with a fierce shot which deflected over the Kritansh Kera in goal for the Dynamites.
The little kids showed great appetite for success and both teams relentlessly chased a winner. It was the Dynamaites who were to get it from an unlikely source as Kritansh Gera’s goal kick bounced over the Jaguars goalkeeper into the net. It was unfortunate for Jaguars to concede in that manner and it was a shame that the referee had to allow the goal. But the youngsters showed great character to get on with the game and fight till the last second. Dynamites held on to the lead and were crowned Champions in the Kenkre Champions League U-10 category.
Earlier in the day, Don Bosco bagged the third place after beating Golden Eaglets 5-0. Scott Rodrigues and Harsh Palande scored two each to put Don Bosco 4-0 up before, Vandan Nandoskar completed the rout after a well taken goal.
St. Stanislaus A finished 5th in the U-10 category with a 4-0 win over Tigers. Goals from Kenan D’Souza, Atharva Bhandare, Branch Mathew and Vivan Sanghvi giving St. Stanislaus a respectable 5th place finish.
