Kalina Village Boys wins their 3rd KFL title

On 24th October, 2015 Kalina Village Boys won the 15th Kalina Football League after defeating Indo-Nest 2-1 at Kalina Football Ground.

Sheldon Sharma and Dexter Rodrigues’s strike were enough to overcome Indo-Nest although the latter did score in the second-half but it proved to be too late too little as Chris Fernandes’s goal turned out to be nothing more than consolation.

Coming into the Final, Kalina Village Boys who were unbeaten for throughout the Tournament. A glimpse of their beautiful football was witnessed right from the start as they dominated Indo-Nest for the whole first-half.

Although Indo-Nest had their chances in the first-half, it was Kalina Village Boys first who turned their chances into goal when Sheldon Sharma slotted past the helpless Indo-Nest’s goalkeeper Vikram Singh to take a vital lead over the boys in blue and red.

Soon Kalina Village Boys who were on course to win their 3rd Kalina Football League title made it 2-0 before the break. Dexter Rodrigues tapped his effort into the net from Dan Dias’s low cross.

As they went into break with a two goal lead this Final was Kalina Village Boys fifth final in the last six editions of the Kalina Football League.

In the second-half, Kalina Village Boys for the majority of the match sat back and defended their two goals lead as they were aware that a single mistake at the back can cost them the Title.

Indo-Nest kept pressing Kalina Village Boys and it did paid off when Chris Fernandes cut short the deficit as he placed his shot right into the bottom corner.

Kalina Village Boys who were unbeaten for throughout the tournament kept their nerves and defended their lead to win their 3rd Kalina Football League Title. For the first time in the 15 years of Kalina Football League history a team has managed to achieve that feat.

Dexter Rodrigues of Kalina Football League for his spectacular tournament was awarded as the Best Player of the Tournament. Another goal scorer of the final, Sheldon Sharma was presented with the Best Player of the Finals award.

Dan Dias (Kalina Village Boys) and Sachin Medar (AZ) – Most Goals Scored in the Tournament, Vikram Singh (Indo-Nest) – Best Goalkeeper, Sundar Poojara (Air India) – Best Defender, Akshay Pasnilkar (Air India), Pawan Rawat (Indo-Nest) – Best Promising Player of the Tournament.

Brian Miranda presented Runners-up trophy to Indo-Nest before Steven Dias handed over the glittering trophy to Kalina Village Boys who celebrated their 3rd Kalina Football League Title.
